The League of Women Voters of WI is partnering with 350 Wisconsin, Elevate, the Sierra Club, and a wide range of organizations and communities to host the Wisconsin Climate March on Sunday, September 28 in Madison, WI!
Right now, climate and environmental protections are being dismantled, academic and scientific institutions are being undermined and defunded, and our democracy itself is being threatened. We need strong turnout to tell leaders and decision makers at every level: we demand bold, meaningful action now!
We have three central demands:
-
Promote Environmental Justice and Energy Justice by ensuring that no new fossil fuel energy generation plants are created in Wisconsin.
-
Support Science and Academic Freedom, including increased investment in science and research at Wisconsin’s universities and institutions, plus respect for academic freedom and freedom of speech.
-
Guarantee Fair Treatment and the Rule of Law for All! Restoration of the rule of law and democratic freedoms. No Kings! No Billionaires!
This will be the first large-scale climate-centric march in Wisconsin in the current federal administration, and will be coming at the end of Climate Week, when world leaders convene in New York City to talk about climate. We’ll remind these world leaders that we’re watching: we’ll hold them to their promises and push them to be better. Learn more at wisconsinclimatemarch.org.
We hope you’ll join us on 9/28 at noon at the UW Library Mall in Madison! Learn more about the march, RSVP, and sign up for a volunteer role at wisconsinclimatemarch.org. Additional questions can be sent to lwvwisconsin [at] lwvwi.org.
