
The State Impartial Justice Committee will present a webinar on four amendments that were passed by the public during the last few years and will discuss how these constitutional amendments did not adequately explain the negative consequences that have ensued since their passage.

Attorney Jasleen Singh - Brennan Center for Justice
Jasleen Singh is a senior counsel and manager in the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program, where she focuses on voting rights and elections. She previously served as deputy attorney general in the Civil Rights Enforcement Section of the California Attorney General’s Office, where she worked on immigration and administrative law issues.
Executive Director Margo Kirchner - Wisconsin Justice Initiative
Margo Kirchner previously held the roles of development director and general counsel of Wisconsin Justice Initiative. Prior to joining WJI, she was a career law clerk in the federal courts for judges in the Eastern District of Wisconsin for more than 20 years and at the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals for one year.
Interim Associate Director Dennis M. Franklin, Sr. - Ex-Incarcerated People Organizing
Director, advocates for second chances, drawing on his own incarceration experience. Pursuing a Human Services degree at Madison College, Dennis supports others in recognizing their worth while challenging systemic injustices. Dennis has successfully impacted Wisconsin State and Federal court cases, including a Wisconsin Supreme Court victory limiting enhanced Federal sentences. With extensive legal knowledge, Dennis supports individuals at EXPO and pushes for change in the carceral system.
Attorney Doug Poland - Law Forward
Doug Poland is the Co-Founder of Law Forward and is the full-time Director of Litigation. He has spent decades fighting for constitutional rights and democratic values in courtrooms across the state and at the U.S. Supreme Court. He played a key role in multiple successful challenges to Wisconsin’s gerrymandered legislative maps, including serving on the legal team that took the pivotal Gill v. Whitford case to the U.S. Supreme Court. He also secured emergency relief for Wisconsin voters in Lewis v. Bostelmann, extending mail-in ballot deadlines during the critical 2020 spring election amid novel pandemic challenges.
