Women Who Inspire: Judith Goldsmith

Photo of member Judith GoldsmithThe League of Women Voters of Wisconsin is celebrating veteran feminist, activist and educator, Judy Goldsmithas one of seven nominees for the Wisconsin Governor's 19th Amendment Centennial Committee’s Women Who Inspire initiative.* Judy’s leadership in the National Organization for Women (NOW) represents the Committee’s goal to highlight women who inspire us today, through their work affecting social change to increase gender equality. We thank LWV Manitowoc County for submitting Judy’s nomination.

Judy has been a passionate advocate of women’s issues since the 1970’s. She was a founding member of the local Two Rivers/Manitowoc Chapter of NOW, rose to become State Coordinator of the Wisconsin NOW Chapter and served as President of National NOW from 1982 to 1985. Her activism was strengthened by her role as an educator teaching classes on gender identity and gender relationships and her position of authority as Dean of the University of Wisconsin - Fond du Lac campus from 1993 to 2002 and 2009 to 2010.

It is the time for women to get involved in politics and other organizations promoting social change.
