Women Who Inspire: Judy Crain

Women Who Inspire: Judy Crain

Headshot of Judy Crain

LWVWI is celebrating Judy Crain, member of the Greater Green Bay League, public education advocate and community activist, as one of seven nominees for the Wisconsin Governor's 19th Amendment Centennial Committee’s Women Who Inspire Initiative. Judy’s contributions to her community through public service exemplify the committee’s goal to highlight women who inspire us today, through their work affecting social change to increase gender equality. We thank LWV Greater Green Bay for submitting Judy’s nomination.

Judy became an activist on many issues, but found her focus in the areas of women’s equality, public service and public education, which she believes is the basis for equality for everyone. She took action when opportunities were opening up for women in the 1970s, serving on the Green Bay Area School Board for many years, as the coordinator for the Sexual Assault Center in Green Bay and as state president of the Wisconsin Council on Children and Family. Judy also served on many community boards and was appointed to the Wisconsin Board of Regents.

When you are willing to put yourself in an (initially) uncomfortable position to learn, experience and offer yourself - you will be part of the change in your community, in your state and in our world.
