Our Spirits Don't Speak English: Indian Boarding Schools (2008)
This documentary presented by Gayle Ross, a Cherokee Nation Historian and Storyteller tells the history of Indian boarding schools since 1968 and gives a voice to the Indian children forced through the system. The philosophy of the Indian boarding school system was based on the concept of "kill the Indian and save the man", as stated by Captain Richard Henry Pratt who was the founder of the Carlisle Indian School.
“The documentary is a gripping, powerfully moving piece of film, interspersed with historical accounts of those people who were in these schools.” – Cinema Without Borders
