Membership is open to everyone, age 16 or older, without regard to ability to pay for membership. Members of LWV ABC are also members of LWV Minnesota and LWV of the United States.

Annual Membership Dues
Effective February 2024, dues are set by, and paid to, LWV United States (LWVUS). Membership dues are distributed among LWVUS (33%), LWV Minnesota (47%) and LWV ABC (20%).
- Recommended Dues: $75.00 per year
- "Choose Your Own Amount" Dues: $0 - $70.00 per year*
*LWV ABC has chosen to supplement the lower limit of $20.00 in the national dues policy. If you choose a dues amount of less than $20, please join or renew by check (see below).
You may also choose to pay a higher dues amount to support League at all levels. Higher dues payments help to fund League activities but do not grant additional benefits.

Membership Renewals
- Membership will expire 1 year after the day you join.
- Memberships for members who joined LWV ABC in 2023 or earlier will continue to expire on April 30 each year if you renew in a timely manner.
- LWVUS will send emails requesting renewal of membership 60 days prior to expiration. Follow-up emails will be sent 30 days later and on the day of expiration.
- LWVUS will remove you from the membership roster 60 days after expiration of membership if membership is not renewed.
Auto-Renewal: When paying your dues online, you can opt in to auto-renewal. Next year, you will receive an email prior to LWVUS submitting membership charges to your credit card or bank.
LWV ABC Tax Information
67% of your dues is tax deductible - the portion of your dues paid to LWVMN and LWV ABC. If you pay the recommended rate of $75 you may deduct $50.
- LWVMN and LWV ABC are 501(c)(3) organizations so the portion of your dues paid to these organizations (67%) is tax deductible.
- LWVUS is a 501(c)(4) organization so the portion of your dues paid to LWVUS (33%) is not tax deductible.
Your confirmation of payment can be used as a receipt for tax purposes.
