The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) is thrilled to launch a series of conversations with writers across genres discussing the experience of migration, leaving one's home, and creating a new one. Three to four times per year, ILCM will feature writers of nonfiction, fiction, graphic novels, children’s books, and more who are offering new insights and inspiring meaningful dialogue on this most political and personal of issues.

Jia Lynn Yang, New York Times Deputy National Editor, wrote One Mighty and Irresistible Tide: The Epic Struggle Over American Immigration, 1924-1965 "to fuse my family's history to the history of the country that found a place for us."

Join us to hear Jia Lynn in conversation with Sahan Journal's Ibrahim Hirsi about the book—a gripping and timely tale of the lead-up to the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, which simultaneously opened and closed America's doors to millions.
