The 2020 Status of Women & Girls in Minnesota report details the profound gender inequities that persist in Minnesota, with greater disparities faced by women and girls of color, Native Americans, rural women and girls, LGBTQ+ people, and older women. For the past decade, the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota and the Center on Women, Gender, and Public Policy at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs have collaborated to illuminate the systemic gender and racial inequities that trap too many women in poverty, compromise their safety, hinder access to healthcare, and limit leadership opportunities. In this discussion, we’ll explore the significance of the latest report amid a global pandemic and a nationwide movement for racial justice.
