LWVWI DEI Policy
Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be accepted within the League, including but not limited to race, socio-economic status, age, ability status, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, gender identity, or marital status. The League is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging for all people. The League is an organization that respects and values the richness of our community and our members. The collective sum of our individual differences and life experiences represents not only our culture, but our reputation and the organization's mission and achievements as well.
- Community Alliances Committee: The Community Alliances Committee (CAC) is a mutually supportive learning community that meets bi-monthly to share information on strategies and create tools to increase, strengthen and expand diversity, equity, and inclusion within their respective DEI journeys. The intended members of this committee are local DEI chairs or any interested general member who wants to bring these conversations back to their local Leagues. Time commitment: ~1.5 hours per month.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee: The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEI) is responsible for increasing diversity for LWVWI among all our constituents, including members, volunteers, and supporters. The DEI Committee leads the organization in its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across all endeavors. The DEI Committee seeks to attract more volunteers and members and move them up the affiliation and engagement ladder, providing a welcoming and inclusive culture that engages people with different backgrounds and abilities, and where different people can all make a meaningful impact on our mission. Time commitment: 1 hour per month.
