The League of Women Voters of South San Mateo County runs entirely on volunteer power. We have leadership positions available for those who want to step up, and numerous one-time opportunities for anyone looking to support democracy without a long-term commitment.

The Observer Corps is the League of Women Voters' civic accountability program, in which trained League members attend local and state government meetings — such as city councils, school boards, and planning commissions — to observe and document how public bodies conduct their business. Operating on a strictly nonpartisan basis, Observers do not advocate or participate; they simply listen, take notes, and produce written reports that help the League track government transparency, identify advocacy opportunities, and hold elected officials accountable to the public.
