On Sept. 3, during an all-members Zoom meeting, The League of Women Voters of North Carolina unveiled an election toolkit designed to help members and supporters convey simple, non-partisan information to their communities as the 2024 election draws closer.
The toolkit includes new videos, key messaging, social media graphics, suggested messaging for letters to the editor, and links to additional resources. It can easily be tailored to each user’s personal approach – some will reach their contacts through one-on-one, in-person conversations in their neighborhood, while others will cast a wide net online.
Along with messaging about voter ID, early voting dates, voting by mail, VOTE411.org (the League’s non-partisan online voting guide), and what’s on North Carolinians’ ballots, the toolkit offers information about becoming a poll worker, monitoring county Board of Elections meetings, and the canvass process that occurs after Election Day.
More information and resources will be added to the toolkit as voting gets underway. Beginning Sept. 10, a special email will be sent out each Tuesday that distills down actions people can take to get out the vote in North Carolina. Those interested who are not already on the League's email list can opt in.
“The best protection for any election system is the vigilance and participation of voters,” says Jennifer Rubin, LWVNC president. “We are nearly 2,000 members strong across the state. If everyone pitches in – even if they can only offer five minutes of their time each week – we can motivate our fellow North Carolinians, in big and small ways, to turn out and make their voices heard this fall.”
