The League of Women Voters of North Carolina will host its Advocacy Day on Tuesday, April 28, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. League members from across the state will gather in Raleigh to meet with legislators, highlight the League’s nonpartisan priorities, and demonstrate the power of informed civic engagement at the North Carolina General Assembly. We will advocate for free and fair elections and voting rights—a critically important focus as we look ahead to the upcoming midterm elections and potential elections-related legislation during the General Assembly’s short session.
Advocacy Day offers both new and experienced advocates an opportunity to learn, connect, and take meaningful action. The tentative schedule includes:
- Light breakfast and group organization at a location near the NCGA
-
Walk to the Legislative Building for a brief group photo
-
Meetings with legislators in small groups to share LWVNC priorities
-
Boxed lunch and debrief, including story-sharing and follow-up action planning
To ensure all participants feel prepared and confident, we will hold a Pre-Advocacy Orientation on Monday, April 27, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. This session will review logistics, provide advocacy materials and talking points, share tips for communicating with lawmakers, and allow time for questions.
Members interested in participating are encouraged to complete the LWVNC interest form so organizers can plan and share event materials. Even if you have previously filled a form, please do so again so we have accurate information for our planning.
