On Oct. 7 in Greensboro, you're invited to two events celebrating the changes ushered in by the 19th Amendment. Please join us as we dedicate a National Votes for Women Trail marker and monument honoring Gertrude Weil and the founding of the North Carolina LWV.

At 3 p.m., Dr. Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins – educator, writer, activist, and the only African-American woman to serve as president of the League of Women Voters of the United States in its first 100 years – will present at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum.

Tied to her latest book, The Untold Story of Women of Color in the League of Women Voters, Dr. Jefferson-Jenkins' presentation is "Show Up, Stand Up, Speak Up: This Is Our Time."

A book signing will follow the presentation. Scuppernong Books will be on site selling copies of the book.
