Limited term, stipend available 

Availability:  Starting Spring Semester 2022, approximately 5 hours per week thru May 2022

Position Title:  LWVWI Community Alliances Committee (CAC) Interns (2 positions) 

Supervisor:  Ellen Penwell, LWVWI Membership & Events Manager;  CAC Liaison and Mentor:  Earnestine Moss, LWV Dane County

What is the LWVWI Community Alliances Committee (CAC)?

The LWVWI’s Community Alliances Committee is a learning community comprised of several local Leagues that are exploring ways to reach out to and strengthen networks with underrepresented and underserved populations. 

Position Summary:  The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, a grassroots, nonpartisan, political organization, is seeking qualified interns to create comprehensive spreadsheets of African-American and Youth organizations in Wisconsin through contact with local Wisconsin Leagues and additional online research. To achieve this goal, the intern will:

  • Survey 20 local Leagues requesting lists of African-American and Youth organizations they work with and/or know about in their respective communities/regions

  • Create an excel spreadsheet of these organizations with contact information by League location. A model spreadsheet exists for this project.

Desired Skill Sets:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Good organizational skills; able to meet deadlines; self-directed

  • Working knowledge of Excel and/or Google Sheets

  • Knowledge of African-American organizations and groups is preferred

Through this work, the intern will gain experience in the nonpartisan, nonprofit diversity, equity and inclusion work of the League of Women Voters. 

  • Experience interacting with League staff and volunteers through email and committee meetings

  • This project provides good experience for those interested in community work and organizing.

  • Remote work with flexible hours

  • Intern will collaborate most directly with the CAC Liaison and Mentor on this project, with weekly or bi-weekly phone or zoom check-ins to review progress

  • Participation in one zoom meeting with the CAC to present final results

  • Upon successful completion of the project, the intern’s name will be published with the final document.

  • Nominal stipend of $300
