Partnership with high school marketing students
LWV Appleton formed a unique partnership with the Appleton Area School District Marketing Program (AASD-MP) for the past four years. The AASD-MP matches high school students with the Appleton League for work on marketing projects with real world engagement. In 2020, two Appleton seniors, Grace Demetrician and Elaina Anderson, co-founded a "Voice Your Vote" social media marketing campaign, which aimed to educate citizens and their peers on the importance and security of the voting process in Wisconsin. Grace and Elaina produced a remarkable Voice Your Vote – The Integrity Project Video Series, for which they interviewed election officials who oversaw local aspects of the 2020 presidential election. In recognition of their project, Grace and Elaina were honored with LWV Appleton’s 2020 Youth Making Democracy Work Award.
High school marketing programs may not immediately come to mind for League partnerships, but LWV Appleton’s unique alliance has empowered students to learn about voting and experience civic participation through creative marketing ventures.
