LWV Ashland/Bayfield Counties Receives Sierra Club Award

LWV Ashland/Bayfield Counties (LWVABC) was recently recognized by the Sierra Club-John Muir Chapter with a Good Citizen Award for their ongoing efforts to protect the unique, pristine areas of northern Wisconsin. Historically, LWVABC has been involved in efforts to protect the area from destructive mining. Most recently, they have been a vital force in advocating for the protection of the area's waterways and wetlands from the proposed reroute and expansion of the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline. The award also highlights the strength of the League’s partnership with the Sierra Club.

In addition, Mike Wiggins from the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa received the Sierra Club’s Torchbearer Award. Click here to view a Stewards of All Creation video, produced by the Bad River Band in tribute to the water, land and ancestral beliefs they seek to protect in partnership with their neighbors.
