As Wisconsinites, we believe our state constitution is a sacred document meant to uphold democracy, protect our rights, and reflect our shared values—not serve as a tool for political maneuvering.

Recently, lawmakers have been using constitutional amendments to bypass the normal legislative process, locking in harmful and vague policies, all while ignoring the issues that voters care about. Legislating through constitutional changes undermines the checks and balances designed to prevent government overreach and protect the will of the people.

We, the undersigned, call on Wisconsin lawmakers to:

✅ Support reforms that empower citizens and protect our rights, including a citizen-led ballot initiative process, which would give Wisconsinites a stronger voice in shaping their own government.
✅ Stop using constitutional amendments for political gain and instead focus on meaningful reforms that strengthen democracy for all.
✅ Prioritize the voices of Wisconsin voters by ensuring fair, transparent processes when considering constitutional changes.
✅ Educate voters on the long-term consequences of constitutional amendments before they are placed on the ballot.
