This is part of a nationwide event with over 100 cities participating in support of protecting and expanding voting rights. The John Lewis Voting Advancement Day of Action features rallies called “Votercades” to support for Senate Bill S1, the “For the People Act”, and House bill HR4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Votercade Event Details:

  • The League car parade will assemble beginning at 1 p.m. in the John St. parking lot at Appleton East High School at 2121 E. Emmers Drive
  • The parade will start at 2 p.m., and be strictly nonpartisan in keeping with the League’s nonpartisan status and core mission of “empowering voters and defending democracy".
  • Participants will be asked to arrive with their cars already decorated with signs, streamers, balloons, etc. to encourage passage of the bills, protecting and expanding voting rights. Some signage will be available on site.
  • The parade should end by around 3:00 p.m. Each participant will receive five copies of a leaflet with voting information and a parade route map (also on the website). Participants are encouraged to share the extra copies of the leaflet with friends and family members to expand voter outreach.
