LWVWI and local Leagues in Wisconsin are proud to partner with the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition to celebrate National Disability Voter Registration Week & Turn Out the Disability Vote. National Disability Voter Registration Week is celebrated each year to increase the political power of people with disabilities and to enhance the visibility of the disability community.
In Wisconsin, over 340,000 people with disabilities are eligible to vote. The disability vote increases when we also consider families, friends, advocates, educators, providers, and other individuals that interact with people with disabilities. The disability community has a huge stake in the results of the local, state, and federal elections, however, due to discrimination and issues with access, many do not vote. Together, we are working to change that so all voices are heard.
Please join us in celebrating National Disability Voter Registration Week & Turn Out the Disability Vote!
You can celebrate by:
- Registering to vote/helping someone register to vote
- Attending and/or spreading the word about an event in your area
- Viewing and sharing the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition's new voter registration video with people in your network
- Reviewing and sharing other resources developed by the coalition.
