Raleigh, NC, Aug. 26, 2020 – The League of Women Voters of North Carolina is proud to announce that its nonpartisan voter guide, VOTE411.org, is now ready to be used by North Carolinians as they prepare to cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 general election. VOTE411.org is a comprehensive resource on voting information where citizens can learn about the policy positions of candidates, get detailed instructions on registering to vote, find an early voting location in their county, confirm their Election Day polling place, and take the guesswork out of the absentee-by-mail process.

Voters in 32 counties – which are represented by 16 local League of Women Voters organizations – can also access personalized candidate voter guides. For those counties, the League of Women Voters has contacted all statewide and local candidates, giving them the opportunity to provide voters with their contact information, responses to broad survey questions, and personal profiles. VOTE411.org provides information on 979 candidates in 513 races (286 of them are contested).

“It is most appropriate that we are launching this year’s guide on Women’s Equality Day, which commemorates the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,” said LWVNC Vice President Marian Lewin. “VOTE411 always provides essential and trusted information, but over the next 10 weeks, we expect that more voters than ever before will utilize this resource as the national conversation turns to how voting can be done safely and securely amid a pandemic this fall. We want citizens to educate themselves about the candidates and the issues, make the voting plan that best suits them, and fill out the full ballot when they are ready.”

VOTE411.org continues the commitment of the League of Women Voters to provide the information voters need to become empowered citizens. From the League’s founding in February 1920, it has been dedicated to the belief that citizens should play a critical role in our democracy.

The League of Women Voters of North Carolina is a grassroots nonpartisan organization dedicated to encouraging citizens’ participation in government and understanding of important issues through education and advocacy. The League of Women Voters neither endorses nor opposes political parties or candidates for office.
