Lunar New Year Celebration Haverford and Voter Engagement

Join League of Women Voters members as we share voting information at the Lunar New Year Celebration to be held on Saturday, January 25th from Noon to 2 p.m. at the Main Line Art Center, 746 Panmure Rd, Haverford, PA.

The Year of the Snake will be ushered in at the event. There will be hands-on art activities for all ages and an outdoor performance of the iconic Lion Dance by the Philadelphia Suns. The Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy will also provide a martial arts demonstration.

The event is FREE but registration is required.

The League of Women Voters of Delaware County is presenting a three-part program on Running for Local Office in preparation for the 2025 municipal election season.

The third of the series Meet the Winners will be held as an in-person event on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Inn at Swarthmore, 10 S Chester Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081. Hear from present or former elected officials on their experience with running for office and serving as a local elected official. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

The event fee is $35.00 and light refreshments will be served.

The International Relations Study Group of the League of Women Voters of Central Delaware County has been active for years studying different countries meeting monthly on the second Tuesday at 12:30 pm. To generate discussion the group uses the Great Decisions Briefing Book resources put out by the Foreign Policy Association. The topic for January 2025 is the High Seas Treaty.

Join us for our in-person Gathering 2025: Looking Forward & Celebrating Our League on Saturday, January 4 at The Springhaven Club 600 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford. The purpose of our gathering is to celebrate our efforts in 2024 and share plans going forward in 2025. The Media Area Branch NAACP will hold its 100th Jubilee dinner Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 10 PM at the Springfield Country Club, 400 W Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA. This historic event will be a testament to a century of resilience, advocacy, and progress in our community.

The NAACP Media Branch will honor local individuals and organizations fighting for social justice. Our League of Women Voters (LWV) of Central Delaware County (CDC) is being honored for our work and mission to Empower Voters and Defend Democracy.
