Election Hero Day is a nonpartisan, national celebration recognizing the tremendous contributions that election officials, their staff, and poll workers make to ensure a safe, secure voting experience for all Americans. Taking place on November 4, 2024 – the day before Election Day – nonprofits, business leaders, brands, public officials, and more will unite to honor the election heroes in our communities.

The League of Women Voters of Central Delaware Delaware has been invited by members of the Swarthmore Senior Citizens Association to present on the voting process. Our League of Women Voters of Central Delaware County again this year will be participating in Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends event. This event helps shoppers save money on the Friends Helping Friends Day October 22, 2024 from 8AM to 11PM and also helps raise money for our League to support our programs plus it gives our members an opportunity to share voting information.

Our volunteers will be selling the shopping passes at tables at the Boscov's Granite Run Store 1067 Baltimore Pike Media, PA.

The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania and League of Women Voters of Delaware County* are hosting a special FREE presentation concerning Restrictive Laws Affecting Asians in the USA: Past, Present, & What’s Coming on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Radnor Memorial Library (Winsor Room), 114 W Wayne Ave., Wayne PA.

The presenter is Texas State Representative Gene Wu (Asian American), who has traveled from Texas to Pennsylvania to share critical insights on this topic. He will discuss the historical and ongoing legal challenges faced by Asian communities in the U.S. and explores how past laws continue to shape the present—and what we may face in the future.

An open discussion and light lunch will follow the presentation.

The International Relations Study Group of the League of Women Voters of Central Delaware County has been active for years studying different countries meeting monthly on the second Tuesday at 12:30 pm. To generate discussion the group uses the Great Decisions Briefing Book resources put out by the Foreign Policy Association. The topic for October 2024 is the U.S. - China Trade Rivalry.
