Facing Climate Change Together: What’s Happening in Hingham, Cohasset and Hull?

LWVH Climate Webinar

Climate Webinar a major success

Over 60 people attended our panel discussion/webinar on January 27, 2021 on Facing Climate Change Together, with Cathe Shetzline as Moderator.

Many thanks to the informative and engaging panelists from three member towns and several organizations:

  • Cohasset: Corey Evans, Select Board member, and Steve Wenner, Cohasset Alternative Energy Committee;
  • Hull: Judeth Van Hamm, 350 MA South Shore, and Jake Vaillancourt, Hull Clean Energy Climate Action Committee and Hull Light Plant Board;
  • Hingham: Laura Burns, Hingham Net Zero and Brad Moyer, Hingham's Energy Action Committee.

Rep. Joan Meschino and Sen. Patrick O'Connor added perspective on actions being taken at the State level, especially the vetoed Climate 2050 RoadMap bill that is being immediately reintroduced as the NextGen Climate Bill (S9). It was clear from the presentations and discussion during the wide-ranging Q&A that there is lots of energy going towards identifying and addressing the most pressing climate challenges locally.

This Panel accomplished its goals: to give activists from each town ideas about efforts to be taken jointly, and to give listeners plenty of information and opportunities to get involved.
