Annual Meeting Focuses on More Than Books

Annual Meeting Focuses on More Than Books

Saturday, April 27, 2024 - 1:30pm

“Having books for everyone and books where they can see themselves is vital for democracy and who we are as a nation,” Kristen Sorth told League members at the April 27 Annual Meeting held at the Deaconess Foundation.

The first woman to serve as Director of the St. Louis County Library, Sorth is proud of the system’s leadership in opposing legislative threats to cut funding for public libraries and move from appointed to elected library board members. (Note: May unit meetings will be the place for members to discuss book bans and more.)

For more on Sorth's talk, "More Than Books," see the May In League Reporter newsletter.

During the business meeting, members approved bylaw changes to accomodate a new unified dues structure that will be implemented in January 2025. They also approved the budget and new officers, including co-president Joan Hubbard (pictured at right).
