Stand up for democracy by joining your fellow League members for our biennial Council meeting on June 20, 2026, in Columbia, SC.

Who’s Invited? 

Local board members, emerging local leaders, and any interested members. That certainly means you! 

Event Details 

This full-day program will open with special guests South Carolina Election Commission officials Conway Belangia and Jenny Wooten. You'll have an opportunity to take a "Data Walk" to gain ideas and best practices from across the state. Afternoon sessions will inspire and empower us to strengthen our work and our mission through diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

There is a $30 per-person fee, which includes coffee and lunch.

Seats are limited! Registration begins May 11 and closes June 13— or earlier when we reach room capacity. There will be no changes nor refunds after June 13.

Meet the Presenters

Conway BelangiaConway Belangia, Executive Director of the South Carolina Election Commission, brings more than four decades of experience in election administration to the role. He served for 34 years as Director of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections, Greenville County. His career also includes earlier service with the State Election Commission and in Orangeburg County.

In Greenville, Conway was recognized for his leadership and service, receiving the Moore Award from the South Carolina Association of Registration and Election Officials in 2018. In 2026, he was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor Henry McMaster, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor.

 

Jenny WootenJenny Wooten has served as Interim Director and Chief of Staff, leading governmental affairs, policy development, and interdivisional projects. She joined the SEC in 2022 as a policy and outreach coordinator.

Jenny’s state service includes roles at the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, the Attorney General’s Office, and the State Treasurer’s Office, where she oversaw daily operations of the Future Scholar 529 College Savings Program. She also worked as a community outreach and communications liaison for Serve & Connect, an organization that facilitates relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

 

Hannah E ParkerHannah E. Parker is an executive coach and organizational consultant with more than 20 years of global HR leadership experience. She brings a research‑based, psychology‑informed approach to leadership development, culture transformation, and equity‑centered organizational work.

Hannah E. serves on the LWVUS Governance Committee and has contributed nationally through the Nominating Committee and multiple ad hoc committees. Her statewide and local League leadership includes LWVSC governance, DEI, development, and local program roles. She is recognized for steady, insightful facilitation and for bringing clarity and strategic rigor to complex challenges.

 

Lawson WetliLawson Wetli is a longtime Greenvillian and an attorney, with a practice area focused on corporate transactional law. As a volunteer, Lawson is committed to helping people connect to their own power as voters and as members of our civic body.

Among Lawson’s current roles are serving as National and State Program Director for the League of Women Voters of South Carolina and as a member of the board of the Greenville County Human Relations Commission.

 

Christine HaitChristine Hait is Director of Member Services for the League of Women Voters of South Carolina. She serves members throughout the state and works with the membership chairs of local Leagues to help them achieve their goals. She previously served as President of the League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area (LWVCA).

Before serving as LWVCA President, she served as the LWVCA Director of Voter Participation and from that experience developed a passion for registering and educating voters. She joined the League in 2021 after retiring from her position as Professor of English at Columbia College.

 

David KeelyDavid Keely is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director for the League of Women Voters of South Carolina and President of Health Care for All-South Carolina. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College and his medical degree from Wake Forest University and practiced family medicine for more than 30 years.

David was the full-time, three-county, public health district director for South Carolina’s Department of Health and Environmental Control for eight years. He also served in the National Health Service Corps for two years along the way.
