Overview

Just about everybody has heard of climate change.

Just about everybody has heard that continued dependency on fossil fuels will result in:

  • Increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases.
  • Increasing sea levels.
  • More intense weather and weather-related events such as stronger hurricanes and prolonged droughts.

But many people know little else about climate change.

This presentation will:

  • Help you better understand climate change.
  • Give you the latest assessment of the threats posed by climate change based on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change August 2021 Comprehensive Report.
  • Explain the lifestyle changes that global humanity must make to combat and mitigate climate change.
  • Talk about specific initiatives that South Carolina is taking to combat climate change.
  • Talk about what you can do today to reduce your carbon footprint and facilitate the changes needed to mitigate climate change.
