Multiple bills to create Education Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) are moving quickly through the SC legislature.

Tell your senator and house representative that you oppose Education Scholarship Account (ESA) proposals due to concerns about affordability, accountability, and accessibility. Oppose these bills that would divert monies from public schools that must serve students who need more resources.

We need your voice by Wednesday, February  9, when the House Election Laws Subcommittee takes up a very important early and absentee voting bill. The bill does something that we have long needed, creating a no-excuse early voting period. However, it also does things that are threats to voter access and reasonable election administration. We hope everyone will provide personal testimony at the hearing or in writing. The League's testimony:

Proposed SC House maps appear to be an extreme partisan gerrymander. If these maps pass, they will lead to the disenfranchisement of thousands of voters. Major communities of interest are divided, hundreds of precincts are split, and there are even fewer competitive districts. Express your alarm by Monday, November 15 @ noon.

New video: Preparing SC leaders to testify at redistricting hearings

The League encourages all of our local League leaders to bring League redistricting priorities and talking points into focus with hearing testimony that integrates them with a discussion of local communities of interest, conditions, and concerns. We hope our members will do so as constituents and individuals.
